Trip from London to Budapest
It was a good day to leave London - it was our first day of "typical" English rainy weather. We too Ryan Air to Budapest. At the time I wrote that I wouldn't fly Ryan Air again until I lost a lot of weight because the seats were very narrow. I did book Ryan Air from Valencia to Vienna in 2023, but was on a Lauda Air substitute:
The plane was an hour late arriving during which time they had all the passengers standing in line waiting. There’s a good reason to get on first – it's the only way to get overhead bin space – otherwise it’s all gone. We got ours but not only did we leave 90 minutes late, we arrived 90 minutes late which really messed up our schedule.
Late arrival and Dinner
We had planned on resting a few hours before going to our escape room, but didn’t have the time, so went to dinner at a really cool pizza place called Pizza EATitalia (okay, the name is weird) but the food was good (seems it's out of business now). We strolled along the Danube to dinner and it was pretty awesome:
Pinball Museum and NO ESCAPE ROOMS
Rose was still under the weather so we canceled the escape rooms we had scheduled (luckily, they were pay when you show, not pay when you reserve.) I had planned for us to go to a pinball museum called Flippermuzeum but Rose begged off to relax and recuperate (the flight still caused her pain.) Our hotel was also totally awesome. For about $80 a night, we got an executive suite with a living room. Also, I'm sure some time apart factored into it.
Flippermuzeum was run by Palfi Balazs and I brought several shirts from Portal Pinball (then in Kennesaw, now in Acworth) and he gave me a free entry. The entry price was only $9 which is probably equivalent to $20 here.
There were over 100 Pinball machines in this place. It’s the basement of a very large building and it just seemed to go on and on. I played about 10 to 15 machines including Humpty Dumpty.
Humpty Dumpty
Humpty Dumpty was the first pinball machine with flippers - they are reversed to our current way and they basically protected the ball from going out the sides.
The Museum and Other Machines
To give some semblance of size, here are a series of videos of the museum. I tried not to get folks in the shot as much as possible, so hurried through the machines.
