Escape Room Trip End
This picture may seem weird, but as escape room fanatics, if you see a key in something, you simply want to open it. This was after all billed as an Escape Trip.
Summary of Europe Escape Trip
Other than a few small hitches and Rose getting a major cold/flu, this trip went off perfectly.
Our final flight was actually really good with nice Delta Airline Attendants and quite considerate fellow passengers.
Hitch 1: Rose getting sick – it was the worst for her because of the pressure on her ears for the flight with stopover from Copenhagen –> Amsterdam –> Edinburgh. She was crying most of the way but on the second leg, a KLM Attendant, Emily, helped her with some nose drops and warm cloths in cups to put over her ears.
Hitch 2: Taking a bus to save an hour from Biel to Munich and instead getting stuck in a traffic jam and construction which took 90 minutes extra. Shoulda taken the train!
Hitch 3: Limos in Europe – I thought it was a great idea but it was a waste of money and sucked. I canceled the last 3 limos.
Hitch 4: Rail Strike in England. We got hit when the last train from Southampton to London left at 10 PM and we got there at 10:20 expecting to either get the 10:30 or 11 PM train but they were canceled due to the strike. Had to take an Uber to London for 150 pounds (about 180 or $190).
Hitch 5: Me not taking my Green Card with me – held us up in Paris and Atlanta for some minutes but not too bad. I had taken a photo of it. About 5 months after the trip, I became a U.S. Citizen.
Hitch 6: Only thing lost was our house key and TSA approved padlock for my luggage but it wasn’t locked anyway and I had a spare key hidden.
Hitch 7: Nena concert sucked in Biel because it was a promotion event and was done in Swiss German and acoustics were awful
Hitch 8: Ghost Tour in Vienna was awful and boring. We became ghosts ourselves as we left after an hour of the 2 hour tour.
Stats:
Other than dropping 4 escape rooms, one which was refunded (Edinburgh) and 3 which I didn’t pay for in advance in Budapest, we did EVERYTHING I scheduled which to me was exciting and to Rose was exhausting.
I could have kept on going but Rose wanted to come home after a week.
She says she’ll go with me again if I keep it down to a week, plus 2 days traveling.
This blog about our Grand European Adventure 2019 is done.
