Alhambra

Alhambra Mar 13, 2023

The Alhambra is a famous Moorish fortress.  I'll be traveling inland to see it, then back to the coast.

Trip Day 14 - Alhambra

The Trip to Granada

It was about a 90 minute drive from Malaga to Granada where Alhambra is.  I had a 12:30 booking for the palace tour, so I left around 10 AM after breakfast.

Alhambra

I was told that Alhambra was a famous Moorish fortress that was taken over by the Spanish when they finally defeated the Moors in 1492.  During my time there, I found out that it was expanded considerably by the Spanish.

I have not written about this yet because it is a wee bit embarrassing.  I was fucking bored by it all.  There were 1000's of tourists (including me) who stood in line at their designated entry time to get into the palace.  I asked one of the staff in charge of the line how long it would take to see everything and he told me it would be about an hour.  The person also told me that it would be the most amazing thing I had ever seen.

As you can see in the vids below, I was not impressed.  I managed to get through in 16 minutes by navigating through groups and even stepping around a school group.  It was a huge complex and my favorite part was the exit.

I'm not saying it's not impressive considering its age.  I'm just saying it's boring and when someone hypes it up (like everybody seems to do), it is underwhelming.

Just Decorated Walls

... and gardens

Fucking Boring

Got through the palace in 16 minutes and I was very happy about it!
