There was no way I wanted to drive in Brussels so I turned the car in at the Brussels Airport and had a private car for 5 hours. Though it was supposedly booked with an English speaking driver, Roberto was originally Albanian and Greek and didn't know English very well. Not French too well either. He also didn't know where to drive me. I had already planned for us to go to the Atomium for the re-staging of my original pic and we saw some other places too, but didn't really get any history out of it nor a really good idea of the Brussels layout. He was the nicest and sweetest guy though and he was an excellent driver.
I had changed my schedule to get to Brussels a day early which meant having to cut Luxembourg short and Waterloo up a day. I did this in order to see one of my favorite artists - Rahim C Redcar formerly known as Chris and before that Christine and the Queens. He's French and he was in the opening ceremonies of the Paralympic games. He was playing his latest work, Hopecore, which I like, but not as much as his prior work. Also, between each song he gave a small soliquy in French which I unfortunately don't understand well enough. Studying up on French is something I will do before returning to Brussels.
Rahim Redcar is an amazing artist who composes, plays all instruments, and produces all his own music. He has worked with many artists including Madonna. He has a beautiful voice and a lot of his earlier work had to do with his gender identity. He is an incredible showman and brings passion and excitment to his work. I would suggest starting with albums before Hopecore. There is a measure of genius in his music. He releases most songs in French and English. My favorite song is "I disappear in your arms" or in French "Je disparais dans tes bras" of the album "La Vita Nuova". All can be found on Amazon Music - damn, this sounds like an ad!
If you go to Brussels, beware of the hotels marketing themselves as being Grand Place. Grand Place is the center of the city where Brussels was founded.
On Pinballmap.com, I found a place near my hotel (and near the Grand Place) with 3 pinball machines.
